The Belmont Stakes, the third jewel of the Triple Crown, is held three weeks after the Preakness Stakes. We ran at him.

"I like being the favorite", Baffert said Wednesday. After facing off with 19 other Thoroughbreds in Louisville, this post probably gets a little better for the Preakness favorite considering he's got only seven other horses to deal with on Saturday.

Trainer Bob Baffert had to pay with anxiety in a doubly historic day for him.

A fixture in the horse racing world who has been writing about, talking about and betting on races for years, Demling comes into the 2018 Preakness on a mind-blowing streak: He has called eight of the last 13 winners in this Triple Crown race.

"It was a nail-biter", Baffert said.

"We're still open-minded that if the city and state feels strong enough that they want to build a facility [at Pimlico] that we would still do that, but at the same time, Laurel has to continue that elevation of improvements and experience so that we can grow the business", Ritvo said of renovations at dilapidated Pimlico. He admitted his horse grew tired by the battle with Good Magic. "Somebody had to give, and I'm glad it wasn't us". Good Magic pressed Justify so much, the Derby runner-up faded near the end of the 1 3/16-mile race and fell out of the money for the first time in his career. "Everything is more to the premium, quality seats", the former jockey and trainer said of a Preakness experience at Laurel Park. I'm pretty disappointed. I know this horse very well and he's not a horse to be on the lead. "And he's following us".

Scientists probe suspicious rise in CFCs
The researchers found that emissions of CFC-11 were between 2014 and 2016 up by a quarter from the average between 2002 and 2012. This means that the total concentration of ozone-depleting chemicals, overall, is still decreasing in the atmosphere.

Ax Man easily bested Title Ready by 6 3/4 lengths on a foggy, wet day in Baltimore.

It wasn't a dominant performance by Justify in any sense, but still impressive nonetheless given the conditions in Maryland on Saturday and the late charge from Bravazo and Tenfold.

But there was good news on how the victor of five consecutive races came out of Saturday's challenging Preakness victory in Baltimore. The Belmont, a grueling marathon, would be Justify's sixth race since he made his career debut February 18.

The Belmont Stakes is also known as "The Test of the Champion" because it is the longest of the three races at 1.5 miles.

American Pharoah was also the last Derby victor to take the Preakness.

"Right now, I don't see why not". Then, he picked Tapwrit to edge Irish War Cry in the Belmont Stakes - which is exactly what happened, enabling him to cash trifecta and superfecta bets for a monster payout. Tapwrit and Gormley made their moves rounding the far turn.
