YouTube to launch music streaming service on 22 May

YouTube has announced its new streaming service, YouTube Music, will launch next Tuesday 22nd May.

While YouTube Music Premium, a paid membership without advertisements, will be available at $9.99 a month, the new ad-supported edition of YouTube Music will be available for free.

Will you be subscribing to YouTube Premium when it launches in Canada? The price for this service is $11.99 per month, and it includes YouTube Premium Music. With YouTube and Google Play Music information already available, Google can use the data to make personalized lists for users. Although YouTube has a giant library of songs and videos, it competes with Google Play Music and YouTube Red, which is the company's advertisement-free video streaming service. That service costs $2 more than YouTube Music Premium because it includes all of the music services features in addition to the perks of the former YouTube Red product.

Apart from YouTube Music, Google-owned YouTube will also be re-launching YouTube Red as YouTube Premium.

YouTube Music was unveiled by Google today as the tech giant's newest entertainment offering.

YouTube is promising an expanded slate of original content including comedies, dramas, reality series and action adventure shows from the U.K., Germany, France, Mexico and more. What you want to focus on is YouTube Music and YouTube Premium. Google is also taking this opportunity to rebrand YouTube Red. It is likely to replace Google Play Music, the company's current streaming platform, at some point in the future.

YouTube Music is free, with ads.

The platform will benefit from having users' existing YouTube history, meaning it can provide accurate recommendations from the start.

YouTube Music comes with "a reimagined mobile app" and a new desktop player, both of which are designed specifically for music consumption.

A YouTube Music Premium account will cost you $9.99 each month removing the ads and restrictions but it's still double what Spotify charges so we'll see what other perks Google plans to throw in justify the difference.
