Ambien Maker Sanofi to Roseanne: ‘Racism Is Not a Known Side Effect’

While everyone from Tom Arnold to President Trump has sounded off with their opinion on the cancellation and Barr's comment, some of the people involved with the show are choosing to stay quiet.

ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values", Disney Chairman Bob Iger tweeted, "there was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing", while ABC TV Group Chairman Ben Sherwood said,"In the end, it came down to doing what's right and upholding our values of inclusion, tolerance, and civility".

ABC, which is owned by Disney, issued an apology after the report, and suspended Ross for four weeks.

Michael Fishman, who portrayed the character of DJ Conner on the show, says that the day of the cancellation was one of the "saddest" days of his life. In actuality, the CEO of Netflix is named Reed Hastings.

'Roseanne, the viscous slur at me you retweeted yesterday - if I had the time I'd sue you and drain you of every dime you have. "Liberals were dropping like flies anyway".

The suggestion is that calling someone racist is just as offensive as saying something racist - maybe even more so.

ABC gets it, but Roseanne Barr and Donald Trump do not
Confusingly, she has also continued to retweet messages that appear to contradict her apology. She had said of Pence: 'It's one thing to talk to Jesus.

A spokeswoman for Sanofi, the pharmaceutical company that makes Ambien, said in response to Barr's tweets about taking the sedative: "While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication". Actress Sara Gilbert, who played Barr's daughter on the show, condemned Barr's tweet. She later apologized for the "stupid tweet" but it was too late.

She also sent a message directly to Jarret, offering her apology.

Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett during a roundtable with President Barack Obama on Hurricane Katrina at Andrew P. Sanchez Community Center in New Orleans, Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015. She claimed to believe that Jarrett was of Saudi descent, then claimed to believe the adviser, who is African American, was white. Sykes had responded to Barr's invective by announcing via Twitter that she wouldn't return to the show.

To her fans, she expressed thanks and indicated that she would be "examining her options". "I'll never forget he said she'd made him make her six burgers". "I've been up there 12 times already and if I don't get one by now, I'm not gonna get one".

The current "Roseanne" was ABC's biggest hit of the 2017-2018 season, drawing an average 18.7 million viewers, second only to CBS's "The Big Bang Theory", according to Nielsen data through May 20.
