She broke a 21-year-old record for the highest women's ODI score after going past Belinda Clark's 221, which the Australian scored against Denmark.

The Wellington-born player hit 31 fours and two sixes in her 145-ball innings to top the 229 not out Australia's Belinda Clark amassed against Denmark in Mumbai in 1997 - nearly three years before Kerr was born.

Before her record breaking score, the Wellington Blaze all-rounder had only managed 174 ODI runs in her fledgling career.

Kerr and Leigh Kasperek, who scored 113, combined for the second largest partnership of all time in women´s cricket of 295 runs for the second wicket.

In the second ODI, they had posted 418.

New Zealand now move across the Irish Sea to face England and South Africa in a T20 tri-series, from June 20-July 1, before a three-ODI series against England from July 9-15.
