Craig Federighi, Apple's head of software engineering, was direct in saying that Facebook tracks users sneakily with its Like button. It has always been part of Apple's message that compared with fellow Silicon Valley companies, Apple cares the most about users' privacy.

"We have never been about maximizing the number of times you pick [the phone] up, the number of hours that you use it", Cook said.

Announcing the tool, Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post: "After going through our systems, this is an example of the kind of control we think you should have".

When users encounter "like" and "share" buttons from Facebook, the Safari browser will bring up a prompt, asking: "Do you want to allow "facebook.com" to use cookies and website data while browsing?" With Screen Time in iOS 12, sophisticated features herald an era of more "quantified usage" of your iPhone.

According to the Times, Facebook formed data-sharing partnerships with tech giants including Apple and Samsung in deals that gave device makers access to users' information, such as relationship status and political affiliation.

"Today is all about software", Apple CEO Tim Cook said as he took to the stage at WWDC 2018.

Fred's move to Manchester United backed by Rivaldo
He is set to become United's first signing of the summer, with Mourinho also closing in on a deal for Porto full-back Diogo Dalot. One ex-teammate told the South China Morning Post: " Fred's a good player skilfully, though he's not physically strong or quick".

Earlier this year whilst visiting a school in England Cook said that while he doesn't have his own kids, he does not want his nephew to use a social network.

Additionally, Apple is making fingerprinting - the ability for trackers to identify specific devices - much harder. As part of the new iOS 12 update, which will be rolled out later this year, Apple users will gain access to a feature called "Screen Time", allowing them to set daily limit for apps that offer notifications and nudges.

The real meat and bones of Apple's phone addiction features is what they're calling ScreenTime, which comes with a whole host of features, including "Reports". While Facebook generates revenue from ads targeted with detailed information about users, Apple makes most of its money selling hardware products. We've never been in the data business.

For Apple users anxious about how much time they and their children spend posting photos and videos to their devices, help is on the way.

The integration let users speed up logins to their social-media accounts via a menu in the iOS settings app. IPhone users also had the option to synchronise their contacts with Facebook and Twitter.
