After the majority of Philadelphia Eagles refused to visit The White House, Donald Trump disinvited the entire team.

"No, I didn't invite LeBron James, and I didn't invite Steph Curry". A new National Football League policy announced last month allows dissenting players to stay in the locker room during the anthem but Mr. Trump said "maybe they shouldn't be in the country".

He said: "If they want to be here, it's the greatest place on Earth".

Silver spoke about the topic during an interview with ESPN's Stephen A. Smith ahead of Game 4 of the Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors.

"I'm not surprised. It's typical of him", James, the Cleveland star, said Tuesday of Trump's decision to cancel. "It won't be Cleveland or Golden State going", James said. He said, "I think we'll have the Caps, I mean, we'll see".

Trump set off a firestorm Monday when he announced there would be no customary White House visit for the Super Bowl champions, alluding to NFL players kneeling for the national anthem and the ensuing controversy last season. Many members of the US Olympic Team that competed earlier this year in South Korea did not attend a White House reception.

"I'm pretty sure the way we handled things a year ago, (we will) kinda stay consistent with that", Curry said Tuesday when asked whether the Warriors would skip the visit should they win this time.

The president noted that other teams have been happy to visit the White House. But we already knew the Warriors and the Cavaliers weren't going to go.

Instead of an Eagles ceremony, Trump held an alternate event, which the White House called "a celebration of the American flag with Eagles fans and performances by United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus". Pretty sure the way we handled things a year ago, we'd stay consistent with that.

But Trump said Friday he believes the Washington Capitals will come to celebrate winning their very first Stanley Cup title.

The WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx also didn't receive an invitation from Trump and instead chose to a spend day of service in Washington, D.C., this week. The Eagles visit was scrapped after it emerged that only around 10-12 players were likely to attend.

Warriors star Kevin Durant and coach Steve Kerr had also made it quite clear their dislike for the president. We get it at this point.
