Granton was a father of two girls; a 7-month-old and a 1-year-old.

Earlier in the day, officers followed a trail of blood to find a man who was wounded in a shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability, which is investigating the shooting, said late Thursday that preliminary evidence shows there were three shots discharged from the officer's firearm. They say that there is evidence that the gun was sacked at the scene. The 29-year-old man was driving when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots about 5:30 a.m.in the 1400 block of West 63rd, according to police.

Chicago police released more details of the Wednesday shooting after Granton's sister, Joanna Varnado, suggested that the officer had used excessive force.

Guglielmi posted on Twitter a photograph of what he said was Granton's weapon found at the scene. He also says that there is evidence the gun was sacked at the scene.

Also in Bronzeville, about 2:25 p.m.in the 4700 block of South Vincennes Avenue, a 22-year-old man was shot in the head, and a 28-year-old shot in the abdomen, police said. He was shot twice in the right leg about 12:50 p.m.in the 100 block of West 107th Street by someone firing from a black vehicle, police said. Officers were sent to the block when the department's ShotSpotter gunshot detection technology alerted them to the shooting. He was struck in the shoulder and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where his condition was stabilized.

The shooting happened Wednesday night in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the city's South Side. Police chased the suspect, and the man was shot after an "armed confrontation", according to officials. Ailoto said in a statement that officers told the man to stop and he "produced a weapon", so the officer shot him.

So the USA went nuclear on ZTE, imposing a seven-year ban on United States companies selling technology to the Chinese firm. DUSTIN DWYER, BYLINE: There had been word in recent days of a possible deal between ZTE and USA regulators.

The man was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability said it has been notified of the shooting, and began interviewing witnesses Wednesday night.

"Since when does running validate somebody getting shot?" she asked.

At the hospital, police and security officers blocked people from getting inside as tensions flared.

Police said they were conducting a narcotics investigation around 8:10 p.m. on the 300 block of East 47th Street, when they approached a suspect who then fled on foot. The man was shot in the lower left side of his back and was taken to a hospital in good condition.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said that officers involved in a narcotics investigation were watching the area Wednesday evening through one of a number of surveillance cameras mounted on poles throughout the city. He added that an officer may have broken an ankle during the confrontation.
