Let's rewind to this time a year ago.

This comes on the heels of Leonard reportedly asking for a trade - preferably to somewhere in Los Angeles - out of San Antonio. Knowing Leonard won't re-sign with them in 2019 makes it hard for any other team to give up anything of value for Leonard.

The team has many options heading into Thursday's draft including staying put and selecting two skilled players, trading up and selecting Luka Doncic or Jaren Jackson Jr. That's been communicated to those teams seeking trade talks, although the Spurs have encouraged some rival team executives calling about Leonard to present an offer if they so choose, league sources said.

The South American side are set to field a side containing seven players aged 31 or over in their Group A clash in Rostov-on-Don. The Saudi Arabian national team's rough start to World Cup continued on Tuesday, as the team's plane caught fire in midair.

George, too, could re-sign with Oklahoma City and try to make a run with Russell Westbrook. Although they scored some impressive regular season wins, the Thunder crashed out in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs in five games. So there are a lot of moving pieces in the Lakers' dream summer.

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich met with disgruntled star Kawhi Leonard in Southern California Tuesday, according to multiple reports. The organization can still hold onto him until July 1, 2019, but waiting only limits the time frame to trade their would-be face of the franchise. The team, however, hasn't given guidance on what they would want in any potential trade.

It's the flawless storm for the Lakers, but the forecast remains hazy. This much has always been speculated: Leonard wants to join the Lakers, his hometown team. They've made smart move after smart move over the previous year or so; we will see if they continue them and hold off the temptation to drain their roster and assets.
