Actor Arbaaz Khan´s name surfaced in an investigation into high-profile bookie Sonu Jalan media reports

In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) betting case, actor and filmmaker Arbaaz Khan was summoned by the cops for his alleged involvement in betting. The statement was recorded at Thane Police's Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) for recording his statement, said DCP (Crime) Abhishek Trimukhe.

The Thane police yesterday issued summons to Arbaaz Khan to record his statement today in connection with the betting racket. The police are believed to be investigating allegations that he placed bets during the recent IPL season through Sonu Jalan.

During the investigation, a "connection" between Jalan and Arbaaz was established, said Pradeep Sharma, Senior Inspector and head of the AEC, on Friday.

As per the TV reports, Arbaaz placed the bet through top bookies. "I will continue to cooperate with them". The police say he worked for a kingpin of cricket betting who goes by the name of "Junior Kolkata".

Jalan also told the interrogators that a Bollywood producer, who is the CEO of a film production-distribution company based in Mumbai, was his "partner" in the betting racket, the official said. Jalan is said to run an worldwide gambling operation and reportedly has connections with fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim.

The police had also seized a diary which had handwritten names and phone numbers of around 100 punters and 50 masters (masters are those who collect money) recently. Arbaaz Khan's name came up in the case during the interrogation of Sonu Jalan. He was arrested by Mumbai Police in 2012 for betting on the IPL, and released on bail.

As per the report by Bombay Times, Malaika was seen making her way to Galaxy apartments, where Arbaaz Khan resides.
