'IRRESPONSIBLE AND DISTASTEFUL': Eminem slammed for using gunshot sound effects at Bonnaroo

Eminem denies using gunshot sound effects amid backlash

Eminem is responding to reports that he used gunshot sound effects during his 2018 Bonnaroo set on Friday (June 8).

Eminem headlined the Bonaroo music festival in Manchester, Tennessee on Saturday, and ended up shocking and angering a number of concert-goers with some ill-timed gunshot noises.

One woman tweeted that she suffers from mild PTSD and called the use of sound effects "irresponsible and distasteful".

In one video taken during the set, a fan immediately dropped their phone upon hearing the sound effect, which was accompanied by a bright flash from the stage.

'I have grown up loving eminem and his music but i was extremely triggered to the point of tears'.

Another Twitter user, Sara Benyo, tweeted: "Worst decision ever to ask @Eminem to play, @bonnaroo".

"Being at a festival/concert in these current times brings new concerns & fears", wrote Cristi Williams on Twitter. Extremely realistic &scary! Would have been good to have a warning before show.

Kill You has often used the sound in its performance, however another user said: 'Doesn't matter if eminem has had gun shot effects in the past, the crowd was actually scared and shaken up because of how actually realistic it is'. To hear a gun shot sound effect and see the entire crowd drop to the floor out of instinct is not funny, cute, or amusing.

Numerous festival attendees questioned the wisdom of mimicking the sound of gunfire during a music festival in light of last year's mass shooting during the Las Vegas Route 91 festival, when a heavily armed gunman killed 58 people.

Social media star Andrea Russett was one of many in attendance at the festival who claimed to be traumatized by the sounds during Eminem's set. This is the sad reality that we are living.
