Israeli jets strike nine Gaza targets in response to 'explosive kites, balloons'

An Israeli military drone fired, on Sunday at dawn, a missile at a Palestinian auto which was parked near a mosque, east of Gaza City. No injuries were reported on either side.

Eyewitnesses said that the youths managed to withdraw into the Gaza Strip after the Israeli army opened fire at them.

It held Hamas fully responsible for any escalation and warned that the movement "will suffer the consequences of these attacks".

The Israel Democracy Institute, a liberal think-tank, said the bill s ambiguous wording could prevent anyone besides the army from documenting soldiers, and expose Israeli soldiers to legal proceedings in worldwide forums.

The military says its drones have been able to shoot down more than 90 per cent of the kites and flaming balloons, and that it will continue targeting them.

Another record! Second World Cup's quickest red card
The 2-1 victory over Colombia on Tuesday (Wednesday NZ Time) was another surprising result in an unpredictable tournament. A Sweden supporter holds up a scarf ahead of a World Cup Group F match between Sweden and South Korea on June 18, 2018.

Previously, the IDF had on a few occasions fired warning shots at those preparing to launch so-called "terror kites" and fire- and explosive-laden helium balloons, which have destroyed thousands of acres of Israeli fields, crops and nature reserves during the months-long Hamas-initiated "March of Return" protests.

On Saturday evening, two Palestinians were injured after an Israeli military drone fired a missile at Palestinians allegedly flying burning kites from central Gaza.

Night in the area of al-Shagaya, East of Gaza city destroyed the auto of the leader of one group of arsonists.

Releasing such kinds of kites and balloons is part of the rallies and protests organized by the Palestinians, which started on March 30 in five separate locations in eastern Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel. No Israelis have been killed.

While Israel has been mostly successful in thwarting militant infiltration attempts and rocket fire, it has struggled to stop the low-tech kites drifting into its territory. The territory has been controlled by Hamas for more than a decade, during which it has fought three wars against Israel.
