Gloria Williams, 52, was sentenced to 22 years in Florida State prison for kidnapping an infant from a Florida hospital almost 20 years ago.

She will serve an additional five years on a charge of custody interference. The sentences will run concurrently and Williams will receive credit for the 511 days she's served since her arrest.

Gloria Williams posed as a nurse and stole Kamiyah Mobley from a Jacksonville hospital in July 1998 before giving the child a different name, Alexis Manigo, and raising her as her own in SC.

The baby was only hours old when a woman, dressed as a nurse in a flowered smock and green hospital trousers, abducted her from her mother's room, according to the 1998 incident report.

Williams, who used fraudulent documents to raise the child as Alexis Manigo in SC, may not profit from her crimes while incarcerated, according to Aho.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, suspicions arose when Kamiyah had difficulty obtaining a driver's license because she did not have a Social Security card.

Since learning her identity, Kamiyah has legally changed her name from Alexis and reconnected with her birth parents Shanara Mobley and Craig Aiken, according to news reports.

Williams was arrested in January 2017 by detectives from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

I wish the government would back humanity on this, 'cause it is really hard to find. I was poor growing up, and there is no way my family could've afforded this.

She told the court: 'It doesn't heal now, I am still hurting. In addition to telling the judge she believed a death sentence was appropriate, she also asked for an order restricting Williams from contacting Kamiyah.

She did not attend Friday's sentencing because she did not want to have to pick a family side to sit with.

"I first like to thank God for the safe return of my daughter, Kamiyah".

Shanara Mobley also told of her anguish at seeing Williams" number saved in her phone as "Mommy, ' with her daughter referring to her as 'Mama'. "At this time I chose to remain focused on mending my family together in this situation". She still called Williams, "Mama".

"There are no winners and no losers in this case". Judge Marianne Aho ordered that Williams was not to profit from the crime while she is incarcerated.

'When you're reaching out to my child - I am your mother Kamiyah, ' she shouted, 'I am your mother!'

The woman's biological family was overwhelmed when they learned the news. As Williams brushed past her, Aiken noticed the large shoulder bag slung over Williams' shoulder. Twenty minutes later, she and Mobley realized something bad had just happened when the woman and the newborn did not come back. "Let's go.' I just couldn't". "I can start my grandmama days and love my grandbaby as my own".
