North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and President Trump in Singapore on June 12

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he expects North Korea to take the major steps toward nuclear disarmament during Donald Trump's first term, as the USA president tweeted that there's "no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea".

A exhausted President Trump emerged from Air Force One earlier Wednesday, having returned to the USA after his Singapore summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Earlier today, North Korean state media reported that Trump made concessions to Kim that were not in the statement signed by the leaders - including Trump agreeing to "the principle of step-by-step and simultaneous action" rather than the us administration's prior demands for rapid denuclearization.

Trump's comment on suspending joint exercises with Seoul have caught South Korea's Defense Ministry and USA forces in Korea off guard.

The US president also claimed that before he took office Americans were assuming that the US was "going to war" with North Korea. Earlier Wednesday, North Korea's state KCNA news agency said denuclearization would be a "step by step process" with "simultaneous action", a stance that appeared to contradict the US refusal to offer sanctions relief before North Korea gives up its nuclear weapons. He met for almost an hour at the air base with Gen. Vincent Brooks, commander of U.S. Forces Korea, before heading by motorcade to Seoul.

Japan has repeatedly called for the issue to be raised in discussions with Pyongyang, and Trump said at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon that he had discussed the issue with Kim.

"Despite its many flaws", Cha wrote, "the Singapore summit represents the start of a diplomatic process that takes us away from the brink of war". "It's rough, it's rough in a lot of places, by the way, not just there but it's rough and we will continue that and I think ultimately we will agree to something", Trump said.

The document the two leaders signed did not include details of how and when North Korea would denuclearize, nor did it spell out exactly what "security guarantees" the United States would provide to North Korea.

In fact, for the past four years, new Red Cross donors have declined by about 80,000 each year. Transfusion of blood and blood products helps save millions of lives every year.

Trump also said he wanted to withdraw the USA troops stationed in the South, something he promised on the campaign trail, saying: "I'd like to be able to bring them back home".

The article also states that Trump accepted Kim's invitation to visit Pyongyang, while Kim accepted an invitation from Trump to visit the US.

South Korean army's K-9 self-propelled howitzers take positions during an annual exercise in Paju, near the border with North Korea, South Korea, June 11, 2018.

The move, long requested by Pyongyang, has been seen as a major concession to North Korea and has left one former South Korean military leader "speechless".

"We are working with the regional countries on getting this (deal) going".

But some argue North Korea didn't go any further than previous promises. Trump later interacted with media persons from across the world covering the event.

Critics at home said the joint statement by the two leaders was short on detail and that Trump had made too many concessions to Kim.

Earlier in the day, Trump declared that there is 'no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea'.
