Lakers insider debunks talk of Jayson Tatum vs Lonzo Ball in NBA draft

The Lakers own the No. 25 pick in the first round of the draft, along with No. 47 in the second round. With that in mind and a roster that now features just eight players under contract as of July 1, there will likely be open roster spots for first and second round picks this year.

This week, the Lakers' top brass held a highly publicized workout for a player who's not expected to be drafted, which would've otherwise gone completely unnoticed if that player wasn't LiAngelo Ball.

LiAngelo, the second of three basketball-playing Ball brothers, left UCLA during his freshman season for a Lithuanian professional league following his shoplifting arrest on a team trip to China.

On one side of one court, Lonzo, the Balls' agent Harrison Gaines, and Lonzo's manager and good friend Darren Moore watched.

Looks like LaVar Ball's dream of having his sons all play for the Lakers won't be happening anytime soon. "I'm just playing my hardest and whatever team thinks I can produce for them, that's who I'll play for". We had a chance to play with him on 3-on-3 and 2-on-2 live action stuff.

Birmingham have held talks with 23-year-old Danish defender Kristian Pedersen, who plays for Bundesliga 2 side Union Berlin. Without your support in the worst moments nothing we did would have been possible. "After that we'll see what happens".

The Lakers forward goes on to describe Ball's pimpled face as a "deep dish pepperoni pizza" among an array of amusing roasts for the Chino Hills native.

"I thought I did good", Ball said.

"I showed I can knock down shots and get some wins within the 2-on-2 and 3-on-3s". He is a lot of fun to play with.

"I want all my three boys to play for the Lakers".

The 19-year-old LiAngelo was joined by Jaylen Adams (St. Bonaventure), Tyus Battle (Syracuse), Devon Hall (Virginia), Dusan Ristic (Arizona) and Thomas Welsh (UCLA) in the workout. I just moved on.
