Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne wave to the crowd at the Pride parade in Toronto, Sunday, June 25, 2017 as Trudeau's children Xavier and Ella-Grace look on. A Liberal source told The Canadian Press about a dozen ridings in which the party thinks they have a reasonable shot at winning, but Wynne's own riding was not among them.

The decision comes as the left-leaning New Democrats have gained ground ahead of provincial voting, according to opinion polls, setting up a two-way race with the right-leaning Progressive Conservatives to take power.

Since the last election, the boundaries of Ontario constituencies have been redrawn, so it's not easy to translate past results into current predictions.

The NDP would also ask Elections Ontario to call for independent experts to make recommendations on how the agency could introduce rules to oversee the nomination of candidates by the province's political parties. For this reason, many voters are anxious about handing a blank cheque to either Doug Ford or the NDP. "But this news doesn't change the fact that it's always been a change election here in Essex".

And to repeat - all the riding boundaries have changed.

"We're going to bring an outside auditing firm in to go line item by line item to drive efficiencies", Ford said. "They're hoping they can salvage (the party).it's about saying to people: don't abandon us".

Guatemala volcano erupts, killing children as lava spews into village
Eddy Sanchez, director of the country's seismology and volcanology institute, said the flows reached temperatures of about 700 C. Photos and videos posted on social media showed bodies strewn atop the lava flow, which was around 5 miles long at one point.

"As far as I'm concerned this strategy is really good news for the (Progressive) Conservatives", Cochrane adds. "They just make no sense and they put so many families at risk".

The first-time candidate says a huge weight has been lifted off his shoulders, now that the Premier has helped shift the focus of the campaign to stopping a majority government from being elected.

There are serious decisions that voters in Ontario have to make.

"The more Liberal MPPs we send to Queen's Park on June 7, the less likely it becomes that either Doug Ford or the NDP will be able to form a majority government", Wynne said. The NDP, after all, have only formed government once, in 1990. "It's to ensure Doug Ford doesn't [form] a majority government", she said. "Let's not go from bad to worse". So a number of possible scenarios can be imagined. And even if I won't be leading this province as premier, I care deeply about how it will be led. Suppose the PCs win a plurality of seats, but not a majority. "Electing a Doug Ford government will do exactly that".

It was just one day after the writ dropped that Kathleen Wynne made a campaign stop in Barrie. She said she had been vocal in her support of the industry.

They had managed minority governments from 1975 to 1981, and might have hoped to do so again. The NDP leader has been pushing for Liberal voters to join them to stop a Ford win.
