A 35-year-old Polish man living in Ireland was stabbed to death after a gang of armed attackers burst into his house on the outskirts of Ballincollig, County Cork, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The men, who were carrying weapons, entered the house and seriously assaulted the man and his partner, whose injuries are not life-threatening.

Another woman, in her early 30s, and two children aged under six were in the house at the time of the incident.

Speaking this morning to Patricia Messinger on C103's Cork Today show, Ms Deryng said that Mikolaj's wife, Elizbieta, is undergoing surgery for the injuries she suffered in the attack.

Both Mikolaj and Elzbieta were taken to Cork University Hospital, but sadly Mikolaj was pronounced dead shortly after 5:30am.

Trump After Kim Summit
Asked by Van Susteren about human rights abuses, Trump replied: "Look, he's doing what he's seen done, if you look at it". There was some confusion in the USA over precisely what military cooperation Mr Trump had promised to halt.

Family friend Aga Deryng has said that the Polish community in Co. O'Sullivan said the two children were in the care of social workers. Police have preserved the scene in the home and where the auto was found to carry out forensic investigations.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information or to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

A vehicle was found burnt out several kilometres away in Waterfall.

Gardai, who have launched a murder inquiry, responded to the incident at 3.17am on Sunday.

Mr Wilk, who was originally from Poland, lived in Ballincollig for several years and ran a garden maintenance business.
