London Ambulance Service said two people have been hospitalised, and another three were treated at the scene for "minor injuries".

'We remain at Southgate Tube station in London following a reported minor explosion.

The incident comes as officers investigated a suspicious package.

He tweeted: "I am in touch with senior Met Police about the reported minor explosion at Southgate Tube station".

"We are not aware of any serious injury", the statement added.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan warned people to "avoid the area".

Police were called to the station over reports of an explosion and people running a little after 7 p.m., and the station was subsequently closed and cordoned off. I was outside the station about to enter the 125 bus.
