But unfortunately, the Trump administration's zero-tolerance immigration policy, announced last month, ignores all the research on child development.

The most public-facing arm of the SBC, the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, is also part of the Evangelical Immigration Table, a coalition which recently issued a letter to Trump asking him to reverse the "zero tolerance" policy of separating "vulnerable children" from their families.

Earlier this month, activists called for worldwide intervention in the USA push to separate migrant children from their parents, a practice the Human Rights Watch called "cruel".

According to multiple protest event pages on Facebook, thousands will gather at these protests with an underlying message: immigrant families belong together.

According to the Families Belong Togetherwebpage, they are protesting the policy set by the Trump administration as cruel, inhumane and unjustified. They are victims of violence, hunger, and poverty and our government's actions re-violate them, causing untold damage. On top of all of this trauma, some of these children-including those as young as 18 months old and those who do not speak English-may not even be able to communicate their needs, their fears, or even their own name or their family members' names. This is violent abuse. The movement, called "Families Belong Together", follows a massive day of action on June 1.

Annalisa Wiggins, the organizer for the event, found out about Families Belong Together through social media and wanted to see if there would be an event close to Rexburg.

U.S. officials had already made clear time was running out to secure a deal the current Congress could vote on. He called it a "gold standard" deal because it offers protections for the environment and labour rights.

The country's second-largest protestant denomination this week made pointed comments on "family unity". Each and every child's outcome affects the future of our communities, state, and country, so it is our responsibility to ensure that all children have full access to services, and feel safe and supported by their families and in their communities so they can learn and thrive without living in constant fear and anxiety.

Wiggins said she knew she was not the only one who was stunned by the news of families being separated at the border.

"If you are smuggling a child, then we will prosecute you and that child will be separated from you as required by law". "We need a wall".

"We're all volunteers doing this in our spare time, but the passion and dedication of everyone involved in this has just been wonderful", she said.

In one case, an undocumented immigrant from Honduras was breastfeeding her daughter when the government took her daughter away.

The event has an open invite for any person or group interested in performing at the event.
