Police in Denver are investigating an off-duty Federal Bureau of Investigation agent who was showing off his moves on a dance floor when he dropped his gun which then fired, hitting and wounding a bystander.

At least two videos of the incident appeared on social media late Saturday night showing the agent gyrating to Jagged Edge's "Where the Party at?" before his gun falls out of his back waistband as he backflips. He then walks off the dance floor with his hands up. The gun appears to fire when the man picks up the weapon.

"When the agent retrieved his handgun an unintended discharge occurred, another patron was struck by a bullet in the lower leg", a statement from Denver police said.

"No one really knew what was going on", Julie said.

Visa announced Friday that it's experiencing a "service disruption" that is preventing transactions from going through. Mastercard said its payment network was functioning normally. "We've just been shopping and my Visa card didn't work".

The agent was subsequently taken into custody by Denver police before being released to an FBI investigator. Charges will be determined by the local district attorney's office.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to Mile High Spirits at 2201 Lawrence Street on a report of a shooting.

According to CBS Denver, authorities are trying to determine whether alcohol played a role in the incident.
