The son of Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett is now facing an attempted murder charge after LAPD detectives turned over new evidence linking Redmond O'Neal to a "crime spree" that includes a vicious stabbing in Venice Beach and other crimes in the Palms neighbourhood in Los Angeles, RadarOnline.com can report exclusively.

Farrah Fawcett's and Ryan O'Neal's son, Redmond O'Neal, has been arrested for holding up a Los Angeles 7-Eleven. Police say a man matching O'Neal's description was seen on surveillance video near the scene.

Authorities said O'Neal was identified in some of the crimes by distinctive tattoos and his red hair.

On Friday, authorities announced that O'Neal has additionally been charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count each of attempted murder, criminal threats, brandishing a knife and battery.

O'Neal is alleged to have gotten into an argument and punched a stranger on the night of May 2. O'Neal remains in the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Just hours later about 3:30 a.m. on May 3, a man was exiting a convenience store in the 3400 block of Overland Avenue when the victim began engaging the suspect in conversation.

In the final incident that police attribute to Redmond, he allegedly became belligerent inside a coffee shop and when an employee intervened, police say Redmond pulled out a folding knife and "lunged, jabbed and threatened to harm the employee with the knife".

After O'Neal's arrest three days later in connection with the 7-Eleven robbery, detectives linked him to the series of alleged attacks, police said.

Fawcett, a former star of TV's "Charlie's Angels", died of cancer at age 62 in 2009.

According to sources interviewed by Radar, O'Neal allegedly stabbed that victim multiple times in the torso and head, causing possible brain injuries.

He is being held at Men's Central Jail pending a July 10 court appearance.
