Perhaps it's inevitable that, after producing and starring in half the movies and TV shows in Hollywood, Reese Witherspoon might just come back to Legally Blonde.

The pic is coming together quickly.

According to Deadline, the movie will be co-produced by the original producers Marc Platt and Adam Siegel only this time, they'll be joined by Reese Witherspoon herself through her company, Hello Sunshine. MGM is also closing a deal with original Legally Blonde writers Karen McCullah and Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith to return and write the script.

Witherspoon was in the politically themed sequel "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde", which failed to impress critics but still managed to rake it in at the box office. No director is attached at this time, and there is no indication as to when production may begin, or if MGM is already eyeing a release date for this sequel. The film followed a perky sorority sister attempting to win back her ex-boyfriend by getting a law degree from Harvard University, as she remained relentlessly upbeat and usually clad in pink. The original movie grossed $141 million worldwide on an $18 million budget, with the sequel earning $124 million off of a $45 million budget.

But, a new spinoff centered on co-star Sara Gilbert's character Darlene Conner could be in the works, according to a TMZ report . In a statement this week, ABC executives said they would not order the production of season two of the " Roseanne " reboot.

The plot is being kept under wraps but Deadline reports that it will be in the spirit of the first film and be more about female empowerment.

Witherspoon is repped by CAA and LBI Entertainment.

The project reunites Smith and McCullah, who as a team generated such comedies as "Legally Blonde", "10 Things I Hate About You" and "House Bunny", and with credits on "She's the Man" and "The Ugly Truth".
