Saudis stun Egypt in World Cup farewell despite Salah strike

Mohamed Salah scored and Essem El Hadary saved a penalty on becoming the World Cup's oldest-ever goalkeeper but Saudi Arabia tallied a last-second goal for a 2-1 win over Egypt in Volgograd on Monday. A lengthy VAR review upheld the initial call, and El Hadary was beaten this time by Salman Al Faraj, making the score 1-1 going into halftime.

Egypt entered its first World Cup since 1990 with high hopes, but unfortunately lost 1-0 to Uruguay, 3-1 to Russian Federation and 2-1 to Saudi Arabia to finish bottom of their group.

The Green Falcons were, however, awarded another spot-kick in first-half injury-time when Al-Muwallad was adjudged to have been dragged down inside the area by Ali Gabr and, upon consultation with the Video Assistant Referee, the award stood.

While Saudi Arabia finish in third place in the group, Egypt end the tournament without a point and have not registered a victory at this competition in seven attempts.

In the first match of Day 12 of the FIFA World Cup saw Egypt taking on Saudi Arabia in one of the two matches from Group A to start simultaneously.

This is the first time Egypt has qualified for the Cup since 1990, so it's especially thrilling for a player like El-Hadary, who made his professional debut in 1993 and first played for the national team in 1997 against Algeria.

Mohamed Salah Considering Quitting Egypt
Osama Ismail, an EFA spokesman who is with the team in Russian Federation , implied that the CNN report was not credible. The player was reportedly bothered by that fact that Kadirov used his image without his consent and for political means.

However, glory can not be taken away from the Egyptian goalkeeper who made the record of being the oldest player to play in the FIFA World Cup and he had some major highlights while saving an incredible penalty.

It was an enthralling first half between the two teams from Group A who have already been eliminated.

Nonetheless, Egypt's hordes of supporters roared on Salah whenever he got near the ball and he opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when he raced on to Abdallah Said's long pass and kept his cool to lob Saudi goalkeeper Yasser Al-Mosailem.

Saudi Arabia played their best match of the tournament, showing quality football virtually throughout the entire 90 minutes.

He is older than three coaches at Russian Federation 2018 - Roberto Martinez of Belgium, Serbia's Mladen Krstajic and Aliou Cisse of Senegal.
