The last resort was his first 36-hole sectional qualifier, and the former Masters champion and world No. 1 made it on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time) with one stroke to spare.

But fear not....the world No.64 Scott finally secured a berth to next week's US Open at Shinnecock Hills via the gruelling, 36-hole qualifying event in Columbus, Ohio.

It will be the fifth U.S. Open played at Shinnecock Hills, and the fourth since 1986.

The top 60 on the Official World Golf Rankings earn automatic entry into the U.S. Open. "I am playing all these majors to win them not just to show up, so I'd like to make the most of this opportunity", he said.

Ryan Fox is going to the US Open.

"I have never played there so we were told we can start practice rounds Sunday and so I will get up there and get a feel for the course and see how I do", said DeMorat who plans to turn pro before the U.S. Open.

He had a chance to do that at the Memorial Tournament last weekend. Stricker shot 65 and tied for second with Mackenzie Hughes of Canada.

One of the more interesting things you see each year at this time is just how many PGA TOUR mainstays have to "Monday qualify" for the U.S. Open. The playoff included Christian DiMarco, the son of Chris DiMarco.

After playing two Open Championships and one PGA Championship, this will be his first US Open as he looks to join fellow Kiwi and 2005 US Open champion, Michael Campbell in the history books. DeMorat won a three-man playoff involving Billy Hurley for the final spot. Garrett Rank, a Canadian amateur who is a referee in the National Hockey League, earned his spot at the qualifer in Roswell, Georgia.
