"It led to the goals and now we have a good position in this World Cup", Colombia coach Jose Pekerman said after the victory.

Senegal and Colombia will battle for qualification from World Cup Group H when they meet in Samara on Thursday (3pm BST).

Colombia must win to advance. The match starts at 16:00 on 28 June 2018.

The South Americans are now third and need a win in Samara to guarantee a place in the last 16, while the African side are second and will progress with at least a draw.

Senegal and Colombia have faced each other just once before, in a friendly in May 2014, with Colombia taking a 2-0 lead into half-time, only to concede two goals in the second half.

It was an emphatic reaffirmation of their potential after 10-man Colombia, quarter-finalists in Brazil four years ago, had suffered an upset defeat in their opening game to Japan. That game ended in a 2-2 deadlock.

"It led to the goals and now we have a good position in this World Cup".

"He can do better, but he was better against Japan than he was against Poland and he needs to do better against Colombia".

Despite winning comfortably against Poland last time out, Pekerman has hinted he might make changes against Senegal.

Anyway, most sources are calling this a "winner takes all" match which, with deference to Jimmy Tarbuck's teatime quiz behemoth, is technically a load of old cobblers.

Who wins Senegal-Colombia? And where does all the value lie?
