The 2017-18 season was a odd one for Leonard, who only managed to appear in a total of nine games due to an issue with his quad, but it seems unlikely that he'll be changing uniforms this summer.

Ramona Shelburne and Michael C. Wright of ESPN.com reported "tension" and a "looming showdown" between Leonard and the Spurs, with the team believing the player and his group have "an ulterior motive to fray the relationship and get Leonard traded to a larger market".

Officers were sent to the block when the department's ShotSpotter gunshot detection technology alerted them to the shooting. He was struck in the shoulder and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where his condition was stabilized.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and Kawhi Leonard are expected to meet before the NBA Draft in an effort to fix the star forward's relationship with the franchise, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

But if San Antonio does not offer Kawhi Leonard the supermax contract extension this summer, its strategy should change. "No one else can pay him that much and if San Antonio's not willing to do that without watching him play another season, seeing him play more than nine games, well then, Leonard may have a decision about whether he wants to play another year there". The Spurs are the NBA's only team capable of giving Leonard the aforementioned "super-max" contract, though it remains unclear if that will be enough to convince him to stay. Even if the relationship has been strained, it's clear the Spurs aren't ready to give up on him. The Spurs maintain that there is no divide between Leonard and the front office, and Danny Green has echoed that sentiment during recent interviews.
