Stephan Lichtsteiner will join Arsenal after Juventus exit

Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner has insisted that his proposed move to Arsenal this summer is still not ready to be completed, even suggesting that there is still time for the plans to change.

"It is a great moment for me, after Juventus, to come to Arsenal", he said.

He will add valuable experience to Emery's squad for the 2018-19 Premier League season, although his arrival puts Hector Bellerin's future at Emirates Stadium in doubt.

Lichtsteiner, 34, won the Serie A title in each of his seven years with the Italian giants and signs for the Gunners ahead of leading his country into the World Cup in Russian Federation later this month.

Arsenal announced their first signing under new coach Unai Emery on Tuesday afternoon.

Lichtsteiner is the fourth-most capped player in Switzerland history, with 99 appearances for his national team, and he's spoken about his desire to bring his experience to Emery's side for the coming season.

"He is a coach who knows what he wants and who also progresses the players, also the old players like me". You never stop learning and this is very important.

Arsenal fans will get to see their new star in action when Switzerland take on Brazil in their World Cup opener on June 17. "I'm really positive that we will do great things".
