No state will play a more significant role in the fight for control of Congress.

More than 19 million Californians registered for the election, a little more than three quarters of the state's eligible voters, according to the Secretary of State's Office. Several congressional races look like they could be close this year, including 10 in California and five in New Jersey.

Due to their disdain for Trump, numerous Democrats are running for several House seats left vacant by the retirement of Republican lawmakers, with a much smaller number of Republicans seeking to replace them.

Democrats and Republicans from Montana to Alabama and MS to New Jersey will pick their nominees to face off this November for the inaugural midterm elections of Donald Trump's presidency.

With so many contested races, especially for Democrats, early voting turnout in the primaries was impressive.
