Trump to leave G7 early, missing environmental talks

Kudlow, who was in Canada with President Trump for the G-7 meeting, told CNN on Sunday that the USA had come to an agreement with the other highly-industrialized nations in the group on a joint communique until Trudeau's "sophomoric play".

On Saturday, Trump took to Twitter to air his complaints, calling Trudeau "dishonest and weak" and saying he'd instructed his team not to endorse the communiqué in response to the prime minister's "false statements" and new tariffs.

The Trump administration imposed aluminum and steel tariffs on the other G-7 members - the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, Canada and Japan - ratcheting up tensions between the US and its allies in the run-up to the summit.

In an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union," Kudlow argued that Trudeau's critique amounted to a betrayal of the G7, as well as the U.S.

G7 members Germany and France said they stood by the communique despite Trump's decision. "We strive to reduce tariff barriers, non-tariff barriers and subsidies", it said, reflecting the typical language of decades of G-7 statements.

In her own tweet, Green Party leader Elizabeth May says Trudeau is handling what she calls Trump's outbursts and bullying as well as anyone, and that all Canadian leaders need to support the prime minister.

Trump called Trudeau "dishonest & weak" after Trudeau said at a news conference that Canada would retaliate for new us tariffs. And what did Trudeau do as soon as the plane took off from Canadian airspace?
