By Tuesday afternoon local time, it had stopped on a ledge more than 20 stories high.

The critter was spotted climbing up the corner of the UBS tower just before 3 a.m. Wednesday, presumably to find a stash of cat food and a live trap waiting to secure it on the building's roof.

As the sun set in St. Paul, Minnesota Tuesday, this raccoon settled into his temporary home. Nelson captured an up-close video of the raccoon "doing a little grooming" on the 23rd floor window ledge.

"When we got there, I believe that the raccoon had been scared up and so that's why it started to start climbing because it was afraid of what was occurring and so that's why it started climbing", Valdivia said.

The animal has become an unlikely hero for many on Twitter - with users dubbing his unlikely success an inspiration. "We were all anxious about him", says Sheila Donnelly-Coyne, an attorney whose firm, Paige Donnelly, is on the 23rd floor of the UBS building.

Opening the window to let the animal in seemed to be the solution, but the windows of the building are sealed shut, media reported. "We were all anxious about him", Sheila Donnelly-Coyne, an attorney who works on the 23rd floor of the UBS building, told NPR.

Food Twitter Roasts Trump and Kim Jong-un Over Summit Lunch
The two men kicked off their summit with a handshake shortly after 9 a.m. local time Tuesday - 9 p.m. The video mixes both Hollywood and propaganda film tropes that play over a pulsing orchestral score.

A raccoon stranded on the ledge of a building captivated onlookers overnight after it started scaling an office building.

Minnesota Public Radio, which broke the story and closely followed the raccoon's climb from its headquarters less than a block away, branded the animal #mprraccoon.

The raccoon's story went viral as office workers posted photos of its progress on Twitter over the course of two days.

In the meantime, officials with the city's animal services department decided that a live trap on the roof, baited with food, would be best.

The writer and director of "Guardians Of The Galaxy", which features a raccoon as one of the characters, said he'd donate $1,000 to charity for the rescue of the raccoon.
