The IBF, WBA "super" and WBO champion has confirmed his next title defence will be against Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium on September 22, live on Sky Sports Box Office, and both heavyweights will attend a press conference in NY on Tuesday.

Joshua (21-0) will be making the sixth defence of a world title (6th IBF defence, 3rd WBA & IBO, 1st WBO) against the risky Russian Povetkin (34-1).

Joshua has not fought since his March win over Joseph Parker to claim the WBO belt and he returns to Wembley for the first time since his epic 2017 win over Klitschko.

After this mandatory title defence, Joshua will be free to fight Deontay Wilder, after months of rumours that a fight will be agreed between the pair.

Joshua had been hoping to fight fellow unbeaten heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, who holds the World Boxing Council belt, but he could yet face the American in April 2019. He has serious pedigree and only a fool would underestimate what he brings to the table.

"The next 10 weeks ahead will be intense both mentally and physically".

The new development is not the first time Shuri has taken the Wakandan throne in her brother's absence. Now Bustle is reporting that Marvel has chose to give Shuri her own standalone series.

"I will push myself to breaking point to make sure I am in peak condition".

Povetkin challenged Wladimir Klitschko for his lineal heavyweight titles in 2013, losing in a unanimous decision for the Ukrainian.

"This is where Joshua wants to be and we are looking forward to two great nights of boxing, with 90,000 at Wembley in September and plans for a capacity of more than 100,000 for April". I fought for the moment to face the strongest in the world and on September 22 I get my opportunity. I'm glad that our fight will finally take place. Povetkin is a top-three heavyweight and extremely unsafe, but in AJ I see the best heavyweight in the world today and I think we will see a major statement.

Povetkin spoke via PR regarding the clash of the two former Olympic Champions. "I am delighted that Alexander is getting his chance to not only become a world champion again, but to challenge for the throne of the heavyweight division".

Part of the bout's appeal is that it presents a rare meeting between former Olympic super heavyweight gold medalists as Joshua won in 2012 and Povetkin did the same in 2004.
