The large amount of people caused safety concerns with local authorities, which caused numerous stores to cut off the lines. However the company didn't realize how popular the event would be.

"Per local authorities, we can not accept additional Guests at our U.S. Build-A-Bear Workshop locations due to crowd and safety concerns", company officials said shortly after 11 a.m. Here in the Bay Area, a large crowd stood in line at a Build-A-Bear store at a San Jose mall. "We are working to address the situation, and we will be reaching out to our valued guests soon".

Build-A-Bear has more than 400 stores worldwide.

Customers who signed up for Build-A-Bear's free Bonus Club were to be charged $1 for each year of age for the day, with a maximum of $29.

The Fox River Mall in Grand Chute says it saw "significantly longer than expected lines and large crowds". Some customers received the vouchers in person after waiting hours to get into the store.

'US to become global leading producer of crude oil'
Venezuela's production has collapsed due to a lack of investment and Iranian exports have suffered due to USA sanctions. Yesterday, we wrote that a strike in a Shell-operated oil field in Norway helped drive Brent crude oil prices higher.

Parents and children turned out in droves Thursday morning to take advantage of a Build-A-Bear Workshop special at the Pinnancle Hills Promenade in Rogers.

The deal was so good, that stores could only accommodate a fraction of the bear-hungry hordes.

"Per local authorities, we can not accept additional guests at our U.S. Build-A-Bear Workshop locations due to crowd and safety concerns", the company said in a message on its website. "Vouchers related to this event will be honored through August 31, 2018".

"We strongly encourage guests to consider delaying their trip to Build-A-Bear".

The average bear can cost anywhere from $16 to $100 with accessories, but with the promotion, a two year old would only pay two dollars. This was going to be their very first build a bear.
