"Chelsea Football Club and Antonio Conte have parted company", the statement read.

The Italian coach joined Chelsea in 2016 and led them to the league title in his debut season along with an FA Cup triumph last campaign.

Conte has been on the verge of an exit since the closing stages of the 2017-18 season, but due to a multitude of reasons, the club have dallied in making it official.

The Italian coach had even overseen training on Thursday morning before being informed of his impending departure that afternoon.

The club also believes that his deteriorating relationship with many players and him constantly bad-mouthing the club in public during press conferences means that they could get away without paying Conte his compensation.

Conte's been absent from all social media posts by the club, which has only fuelled rumours that he won't be in charge by the time the Premier League season starts in August. Despite this, they managed to pick up some silverware by beating Manchester United 1-0 in the FA Cup final in May, though Conte had been anticipating the sack this summer.

"I loved working and learning from him". Negotiations for the highly-rated manager's payoff have accelerated over the last 48 hours and are nearly completed.

Napoli midfielder Jorginho has reportedly arrived in London to undergo his medical with Chelsea ahead of joining the club.

In May, Napoli appointed Carlo Ancelotti to replace Sarri amid speculation that the latter could take the Chelsea job.

Former banker Sarri, 59, will be Chelsea's ninth full-time manager since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003.

"Thanks for everything Boss", said Terry.
