Dimitar Berbatov backs Unai Emery to succeed at Arsenal

The Gunners are deep in talks with the Nigerian worldwide as they look to pin him down to a new and improved deal in North London, amid speculation that he could seek pastures new.

"I have the information - he is near", Emery said at a news conference in Singapore ahead of Saturday's preseason game against Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.

He has already set about rebuilding the squad which was left to him by the 68-year-old, making five signings, with the addition of Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi.

New Zealand claims Australia copied flag
However, New Zealand voters narrowly rejected the new flag in a 2016 referendum , opting to keep the existing banner. The comments come amid escalating trans-Tasman tension over Australian deportation of hundreds of New Zealanders.

Former Juventus star Lichsteiner was the first man in, with Arsenal swooping in to sign the Swiss global for free followed by Sokratis Papastathopoulos but only officially became a Premier League player at the start of the transfer window.

The outfielders who started the match against the Gunners did some recovery work and then used the cycling machines in one group, while the other players had a more intense session.

"Now, for me, it's the moment to work on tactical things, to work on getting every player up to speed". But the transfer window isn't over yet as Emery went on to reveal "I am very happy with how the club is working and we are working every day on how we can improve".
