Djokovic leads Nadal as semi-final halted by curfew

That moment, which took 99 grueling games to reach, sent the 32-year-old South African through to the final on Sunday, where he will play one of two legends of the sport, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

History books will show that Anderson came out on top in a 7-6 (6) 6-7 (5) 6-7 (9) 6-4 26-24 epic that lasted six hours and 36 minutes - the longest ever semi-final at Wimbledon - but those numbers fail to illustrate the astonishing feats of endurance shown by the two gladiators on the most famous stage in tennis.

The 12-times Grand Slam victor Djokovic leads Nadal 6-4 3-6 7 (11)-6, with their match expected to resume at 1pm on Saturday.

Both players oozed confidence before they came off court at 11.02pm with the scoreline poised at 6-4 3-6 7-6 (11-9) in Djokovic's favour.

Djokovic won a first set marked by sumptuous tennis, but Nadal hit back in the second to level matters.

South Africa's tennis gladiator Kevin Anderson was so exhausted after a six-hour 35-minute marathon against John Isner that he was barely able to enjoy the finest moment of his career - reaching the Wimbledon final.

Wimbledon bosses closed the roof before the start but a 23:00 curfew meant the match will resume at 13:00 on Saturday.

Their record in Wimbledon matches is 1-1, with Nadal winning the 2007 semi-final to go with Djokovic's final victory four years later. After six straight points for the servers, Kevin made pivotal mini-break at 7-6 to wrap up the opening set after a grueling battle that lasted for more than an hour. "Just disappointed to lose".

Chelsea sack Antonio Conte as manager
Ronaldo's arrival in Turin has presented a problem to the Argentine and his future is definitely up in the air. Last season, Jorginho completed the most passes (2,860 in total) across Europe's top five leagues.

He is chasing an 18th Grand Slam title which would put him just two behind Federer.

John Isner and Kevin Anderson simply refused to lose. It is also the second-longest match in Wimbledon history.

Both players are rangy, big-serving heavy hitters, and they were never going to provide a display of anything else.

This coming after they had already set the record for the tallest combined major matchup in the quarterfinals or later in the Open era. "We want to see Rafa!" Isner pounded his at up to 142 miles per hour; Anderson reached 136 miles per hour. I don't really know what to say right now. Isner wasted a set point in the opener.

In a column in the London Evening Standard, nine-time Wimbledon champion Martina Navratilova said her "dream match" would have been on Centre Court against Serena Williams. On Wednesday, we saw Nadal's confidence, and even his intensity, briefly wane when Juan Martin del Potro forced his way into their quarterfinal late in the second set.

Yet Anderson's previously impenetrable serve suddenly looked vulnerable and in the very next game Isner broke back, once again taking the set thundering towards another tie-break.

"John is a great guy and I feel for him", Anderson told the BBC after Friday's match.

"So I apologise if I'm not more excited right now because the mix of emotions getting through something like that is quite different". The Spaniard dumped a final backhand and it was over - for the night.
