W.O. was forced to sell his own Bentley 8-litre a year later in 1931.

The "Mulsanne W.O. Edition by Mulliner", to give the vehicle its full title, will go on show at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Bentley will be marking its centenary next year by building the Mulsanne W.O. Edition, named after Bentley's founder William Owen Bentley. The Bentley Mulsanne W.O. Edition by Mulliner is set to make its public debut at the Monterey Car Week in August, and customer deliveries will commence in 2019.

W.O. said of the 8-litre, 'I have always wanted to produce a dead silent 100mph auto, and now I think we have done it'. These are matched by a cocktail cabinet that features a display with the crankshaft of the founder's 8 Litre (see gallery), which was rebuilt back in 2006 when it was bought back by Bentley. It features an Onyx paint job, a vertically-slatted chrome grille, and black wheels. Dark Satin Burr Walnut veneer accents the interior, with Fireglow lambswool rugs, glass tumblers and, of course, privacy curtains. The Mulsanne also includes a W.O. Bentley signature badge on the lower bumper and self-levelling wheel centres and door treadplates, which both incorporate a specially designed centenary badge.

Trump Trade War - US Senate demands a say
The vote comes as Trump is overseas at the annual North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels. The trade conflict has roiled markets in recent weeks, despite indications of a strong economy.

The Mulsanne W.O. Edition can be specified on any of the three-model Mulsanne range, based on customer preference.

Interestingly, Bentley retains its founder's 8 Litre, the second example to be made.

As the last auto Walter Owen Bentley designed and used personally, the 8 Litre mixed a black-on-black exterior theme with an ultra-luxurious, wood-trimmed interior.

W.O. Bentley was forced to sell the auto just a year later. Each W.O. Edition comes with one as standard and inside - displayed in a little window beside your glass of Cheeky Vimto - is a bit of crankshaft from W.O. Bentley's personal auto.
