"While someone who was unblocked could not see content shared with friends, they could have seen things posted to a wider audience, for example pictures shared with friends of friends", said Facebook's chief privacy officer, Erin Egan, in a blog post.

The bug was live from May 29th until June 5, the company says. Blocked users are also unable to send a friend request to the person who blocked them, while blocked friends are unfriended automatically.

Facebook issued an apology on Monday to more than 800,000 users it says may have been affected by a bug that unblocked people the users had previously blocked.

People are blocked for harsher reasons, such as harassment or bullying, Egan added.

Mind you, they couldn't see private posts, or posts you'd only shared with your friends.

Prince William’s Eventful Middle East Tour Ended at Western Wall
William, trying to steer clear of politics, praised what he called the close ties between Britain and the Palestinians. Britain gave no detailed explanation for the change of tack, which coincided with Israel's 70th anniversary.

Facebook says the bug is now fixed, all previously blocked users are now blocked again, and those affected will be hearing from Facebook with an encouragement to check their block list.

"We know that the ability to block someone is important - and we'd like to apologize and explain what happened", Egan wrote.

When you block someone on Facebook they can not see things you post on your profile, start conversations with you on Messenger or add you as a friend.

The software bug did not restore any severed friend connections at the social network, but someone who was blocked could have been able to reach out to a blocker on Messenger, according to Facebook. The bug deleted some associations across Facebook and Messenger, and this caused the block settings for the affected users to be lost.
