"My mother passed away peacefully tonight at the age of 101", the younger Nancy Sinatra, 78, wrote on her official Twitter account.

"She was a blessing and the light of my life".

Nancy Sinatra, the childhood sweetheart and first wife of the late, legendary singer and actor Frank "Old Blue Eyes" Sinatra, has died at the age of 101, her daughter, also named Nancy Sinatra, said in an internet tweet.

Nancy and Frank married in their teens and had three children together. Just days after the singer and Nancy signed their divorce papers, Frank Sinatra married Gardner. They married in 1939 and had three children together.

He left his wife for Ava Gardner in the early 1950s.
