Gareth Southgate's England make quarter-final win look comfortable

British Airways is doing a little proactive wishful thinking with its latest social media post, hoping for an England win in its quarter final World Cup match with Sweden.

"We saw Colombia, once they went a goal down they came out and actually thought 'hang on, we can do something'".

"Of course, we're feeling the energy and warmth from home as well, which I think for a lot of the players hasn't been their experience with England".

After Harry Maguire powered England into the lead, supporters were bouncing in the stands as Baddiel and Skinner and the Lightning Seeds' Three Lions (Football's Coming Home) pounded over the stadium sound system.

That win put Gareth Southgate's men into the final four for the first time since 1990, with a clash against Russian Federation or Croatia awaiting on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, iconic football anthem Three Lions by The Lightening Seeds and Baddiel & Skinner is being tipped to top the music charts after re-entering the UK Top 40.

"We don't have renowned, world-class players yet but we've got lots of good young players who are showing on the young stage that they can be courageous on the ball, try and play the right way, have shown some mental resilience". I don't think this was my best performance on the pitch. "I'm getting videos and pictures from my friends back home watching the game, in the pubs, wherever they are in the country".

Bank of England’s Carney says confident United Kingdom slowdown was temporary
Carney said recent data had given him "greater confidence" that weak first-quarter growth "was largely due to the weather". Since then, consumer and household spending have increased significantly.

"It's quite simple, getting a daughter is the most lovely thing you can get as a human being and for a footballer, it's a dream to play in the quarterfinal of the World Cup, so I am just trying to enjoy the moment", Granqvist said in a press conference on Thursday.

They had their moments of spectacular football but when they needed to they ground out wins against well-organised teams.

There was no clearer display of that character than England's recovery from their stoppage-time gut-punch against Colombia, before ripping up the script to win a penalty shoot-out. "We've scored set-play goals because of him up to this point and today he's got the one he deserved".

"I think there are really complex, hard jobs", Southgate added.

"I wish them every bit of luck".

"I think Croatia will be the tougher game but I think it might be a more safer game. I've got Hendo (Jordan Henderson) to thank for that".

"So, I think right OK, it's impossible to please everybody all of the time but you've got to just believe that you're making decisions for the right reasons".
