In addition, an untitled Game of Thrones prequel project is looking to start in the new year!

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of Game of Thrones for over a year and now Bloys has confirmed that the final season of the HBO series will premiere in the first half of 2019. So, while they're surely sad to see it go, they're going to do their best to keep the ball rolling with at least one spin-off, with several others in development. Now, thanks to HBO's programming president Casey Bloys, we know it will arrive during the "first half" of next year.

Bloys said that the pilot - which occurs 8,000 years before the time-frame of Game of Thrones - 'will feel very different, ' as 'it's a very different setting, a very different time in Westeros.

The series sets out to chronicle the world's tumble from grace into its most dark, horrific era.

Goldman is serving as showrunner and will executive produce alongside Martin as well as fellow Game of Thrones executive producer Vince Gerardis and co-creator/executive producer Daniel Zelman (Damages, Bloodline). This information has since been proven false, as Bloys revealed that HBO was still in process of choosing the right script at the time, with Goldman's ultimately taking the top prize.

As for what's next after the curtain drops on Game of Thrones' bloody stage?

"I'm not going to say what to expect", he said, "though it's pretty great". Are you excited to witness the horrific history of the White Walkers? Let us know what you think about this news in the COMMENTS section below, and please keep in mind to LIKE and SHARE this video on your social media.

Said conclusion will take place in the eighth and final season of the show, but up until today, we only knew that it would air at some point in 2019.
