Ali Akbar Velayati, foreign policy adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, talked with Iranian television to discuss his latest trip to Russian Federation to meet with President Vladimir Putin.

Velayati was speaking at a forum in Moscow. As a result of the 2015 nuclear deal, a number of Western energy companies entered the Iranian energy sector.

Elsewhere, Velayati said that both Iran and Russian Federation highlighted the need to continue cooperation in the region to support the legitimate governments of Iraq and Syria; President Putin agrees that this cooperation should continue in both the defense and the political sphere, he added.

"Qassemi said after Trump's "strategic mistake" to exit the multilateral and global accord, Iran made a decision to dispatch a number of its special representatives" to other countries to "carry messages of high-ranking" Iranian officials about the country's viewpoints and stance on the "selfish" U.S. behavior which runs counter to worldwide regulations. Washington says it will reimpose sanctions and has told other countries to halt all imports of Iranian oil from November 4 or face U.S. financial measures.

Tehran and Moscow already cooperate militarily in Syria, and have been instrumental in sustaining President Bashar al-Assad during the country's brutal seven-year civil war.

Velayati is among special envoys that Iran is sending to various countries in response to the United States withdrawal earlier this year from the 2015 nuclear deal.

Canada extends leadership of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation battlegroup in Latvia for four years
Canada assumes command of the mission, which will be led by an as yet unnamed Canadian major-general, for one year. Without those costs, Canada's reported defence spending would have been around one per cent of GDP.

Qassemi told the IRIB that Velayati will also pay a visit to China to convey messages from Ayatollah Khamenei and Rouhani to Chinese leaders.

The Iranian official went on to say that a $4-billion oil deal with a major Russian firm will become operational in the near future.

But European firms are reluctant to risk far-reaching United States financial penalties they would face for doing business in Iran.

Putin's meeting with Velayati followed Wednesday's talks in Moscow with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who restated Israel's determination that the Iranian military presence be removed from Syria entirely.

Ali Akbar Velayati, an global adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution who is in Russian Federation for an official visit, has shrugged off the concurrent trip to Russian Federation by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying "nobody cares" about the Netanyahu's "baseless and illogical remarks". He said Iran and Russian Federation will maintain their military presence in Syria to make sure terrorists will not resurge.
