Officer helps homeless man shave for McDonald’s interview

Tallahassee, Fla. (CBS NEWS) - A Florida police officer's act of kindness is going viral after he was seen on video helping a homeless man shave his beard so he could apply for a job at McDonald's.

Carlson described how he ended up helping Phil out with his grooming that day, in a video of a news conference shared to Facebook by the City of Tallahassee Police Department. Phil informed the officer that McDonald's had told him if he showed up with a clean shave he'd have a job.

The man, whom Carlson identified only as Phil, was homeless.

Officer Carlson was spotted outside a gas station with Phil when a woman saw the two men from her vehicle and started recording the encounter.

Officer Tony Carlson was about to get back into his vehicle when he noticed a homeless man, named Phil, struggling with his razor outside a gas station.

After fixing Phil's razor, he realized the man was having a hard time shaving without a mirror, so he made a decision to do it for him.

'Not WELCOME here’: Putin NOT INVITED to Congress in major USA snub
The U.S. intelligence community also proved that Russian agents attempted to meddle in the 2016 elections to benefit Republicans. Last week Mr Trump also triggered immediate criticism when he appeared to deny the Kremlin is still targeting America.

"We are always looking to hire those who go the extra mile at my restaurants and this gentleman has proven himself to be willing to do just that".

Kelly Duvall's daughter also took a picture outside the gas station, and Kelly shared it on social media and with the police department. Vazquez added, "We look forward to having him come in to complete the application process and sit for an interview".

Carlson said that police officers do this type of thing all the time, they are public servants after all, but they rarely get this type of attention.

The video shows Carlson shaving Phil's beard, which won over the hearts of the more than 80,000 people who watched it.

"This isn't ... something spectacular", said Officer Carlson.
