Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan reign in 'Mary Queen of Scots' trailer

Next up, however, is a go at playing Elizabeth I in Mary Queen of Scots, which just got its first trailer.

Oscar Nominee Saoirse Ronan performs the role of the ambitious Mary, whose attempts to reclaim the throne of Scotland incurs the wrath of the maniacal virgin queen, Elizabeth I, played by Margot Robbie.

Never before have a couple of taglines - "Born to Fight" for Mary and "Born to Power" for Elizabeth caused so much rage.

Previously EW unveiled a set of Mary Queen of Scots photos that show the two starlets in the full grandiose costumed splendor that's expected of the 16 century-set royal feud film. Mary keeps bringing up her claim to the English throne, and violence ensues. "The only other person in the world who could understand the position they were in was each other".

Mary, Queen of Scots hits theaters at the Oscar-ready date of December 7.

Trump scuppers trade deal with United Kingdom under May's Brexit
Before heading for Scotland, the president and Queen Elizabeth II became acquainted over tea at Windsor Castle. The i reports that 100,000 people took to the streets of London to protest against the visit of Mr Trump .

Robbie plays Queen Elizabeth I of England, the last surviving member of the House Tudor, after her father Henry VIII's disastrous heads-rolling reign. "Each young Queen beholds her "sister" in fear and fascination", the official synopsis reads.

Rourke's take on the material looks both lavish and gritty, with all the production trappings of a major period piece, and some vanity-free performances - particularly from Robbie, whose unravelling Elizabeth becomes increasingly desperate to keep her throne.

Both now must decide how to play the game of marriage versus independence.

The star cast of theatre director Josie Rourke's filmmaking debut includes David Tennant, Jack Lowden and Guy Pearce. Ronan has already established herself as one of the best actresses working today, and Robbie has continued to garner acclaim (and Oscar nominations) in films like I, Tonya.

There's hours more of British history that can be added but importantly, these two women ultimately changed the course of British history forever.
