Microsoft Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17713: Here are the new changes

The Notepad app on Microsoft Windows has been the operating system's forgotten stepchild for years, a largely forgotten tool that stands quietly in the corner as its siblings see regular polishes and improvements. This month's Patch Tuesday cycle brings cumulative updates for all supported versions of Windows, including for the Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803). With express updates, only the Windows 10 software changes (or "differentials") will get delivered to an organization's computing environment from Microsoft's content delivery network. Plus, if you highlight a word or phrase and then open the find dialog, anything you've highlighted will be automatically filled in.

Build 17713, which is available now to all Windows Insiders in the Fast ring, will give Notepad users the ability to do wrap-around find and replace for the first time.

The updated Notepad also adds text zooming.

You can now also look up definitions for words in Reading View, Books, and PDFs, and you can also choose to have the words read aloud in order to hear the correct pronunciation.

Microsoft's announcement explained that delta updates tended to have larger file sizes (around 300MB to 500MB) than express updates because the delta updates have "the full component (not just the individual files)".

Arrow keys now unselect text before moving the cursor, as you'd expect.

It seems Microsoft's least popular OS since Windows ME, Windows 8.1, is being dropped like a hot potato by an increasing number of companies.

The stylus-based tool is now available for download by Windows 10 and is soon coming to iOS users as well, Microsoft said Thursday.

It is practically an infinite Whiteboard where you can use pen, keyboard, mouse, and fingers to doodle, write, type, and what have you.
