World number one Nadal, the 2008 and 2010 champion at the All England Club, trails Djokovic, the 2011, 2014 and 2015 victor, 26-25 in a rivalry which began at Roland Garros 12 years ago.

Rafael Nadal described long-time rival Novak Djokovic as "one of the more complex" players he's ever met as they prepare to clash for the 52nd time on Friday with a Wimbledon final spot at stake.

It was Juan Martin del Potro who slumped to his knees and lay flat on the grass after the last point. Since 2013, Djokovic has generally had the upper hand on Nadal, winning 11 of their 14 meetings.

President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday led South Africa in congratulating Kevin Anderson after he sensationally knocked Roger Federer out of Wimbledon to become the first South African to reach the semi-finals in 35 years. I'm fantastically happy. I've put myself in with a shot of playing Sunday.
