Rockets Emerge as 'Strong Frontrunners' To Get Carmelo Anthony

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly have interest as do the Miami Heat. After all, Anthony would be a first-option scorer in Miami and consolidate the offense, an opportunity he didn't get in Oklahoma City next to power players Russell Westbrook and Paul George.

Anthony is close friends with Chris Paul and played for Mike D'Antoni in NY.

It now seems that CP3 is trying to urge his Houston Rockets to make a move and bring Melo on board.

Cheers for Meghan and Kate as they arrive at Wimbledon
After the final, Williams took to Twitter to express her appreciation for her fans with a shout-out to all moms. Eventually, Wimbledon changed the rule and ranked her 25th in this year's tournament.

D'Antoni coached Anthony when they were both at the New York Knicks for two seasons from 2011 to 2012. That being said, Melo should take to heart whatever he says and if he says play the pace and space, Anthony will at least consider it. CP3 has that reputation of a floor general and he can keep Melo on the straight and narrow during a game.

The Lakers could use some shooting after signing Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson and JaVale McGee to play alongside James, but Anthony shot a career-worst 40.4 percent from the field last season so it's hard to see him being much of a help to any team that's trying to dethrone the Golden State Warriors. Only two teams are standing out as major contenders to land him, though.

As mentioned Sunday night (July 8) by ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Carmelo's manager sat with Chris Paul, head coach Mike D'Antoni, and others from the Houston staff to discuss the situation. The two entered the league in the same National Basketball Association draft class, along with Dwyane Wade. The 10-time NBA All-Star has also been known to have some savvy in terms of his investments in different companies or ventures. Once that time comes, it is widely believed that the Houston Rockets will be Carmelo's next destination.
