Roger Federer debuts Uniqlo outfit at Wimbledon, 20-year Nike relationship collapses

The deal reportedly gives Federer the right to sell additional sponsorship patches on his shirt, something Nike didn't allow him to do. The "RF" logo did appear on the plastic bags that cover his rackets.

Uniqlo doesn't make tennis footwear, so Federer wore white Nike shoes with light blue swooshes on Monday.

"Mr. Federer is one of the greatest champions in history - my respect for him goes beyond sport", said Uniqlo Founder and Chairman Tadashi Yanai. "I hope rather sooner than later, that Nike can be nice and helpful in the process to bring it over to me", the eight-time Wimbledon champion told reporters. "I felt very good out there". For the moment, as fast at retailing as they are, as great as they are, it just needs a bit of time.' Uniqlo doesn't produce tennis shoes, so another brand will be needed for Federer.

According to Rovell, the RF logo belongs to Nike, but Federer is optimistic that a deal will be worked out so that he can still use it.

"They are my initials". This new contract marks a 300 per cent improvement on his old deal show that despite Federer's increasing years he remains a marketable commodity.

Minnesota's U.S. Senators weigh in on Supreme Court Justice replacement
Susan Collins (R-Maine), in the hopes that they could sway one of their votes based on their support of abortion rights. The whole thing is complicated, of course, by the narrow majority Republicans have in the Senate .

'I am still a Nike athlete. Ties are not broken there.

Federer will be the biggest tennis player to partner with Uniqlo, who were the apparel sponsors of Novak Djokovic till 2017, after which he switched to Lacoste.

The Swiss Maestro faces a potential banana skin in the opening round in the form of Dusan Lajovic, who he defeated previous year in the second round.

Even though it will be a while before fans can buy the Swiss star's new gear, one little girl on Centre Court was left jumping for joy when Federer spotted her banner which pleaded "Roger, can I have your headband pleeese!" and he rummaged through his unbranded white bag to hand over the prize item.
