This story was first published on CNN.com, "Roger Federer ditches Nike for Uniqlo".

During last month's grasscourt event in Halle, Federer confirmed his deal with Nike had expired in March but he kept his arrangement with Uniqlo firmly under wraps until Monday.

"I was excited to wear Uniqlo today".

Nike representatives refused to comment directly on the 20-time Grand Slam champion's contractual situation but said the company was "proud" to have been associated with the Tennis great. "After his match, Federer said Nike still owns his signature 'RF" mark, but he expects it to be transferred to him "at some point".

The star athlete added that the partnership had "been a long time coming". "I hope rather sooner than later, that Nike can be nice and helpful in the process to bring it over to me". I mean, besides the history and the mythical place that it is, you can not also practise on it", Federer told reporters."When you come out, there's a bit of uncertainty for both players...

"After a while without playing on grass it's very important to start with a straight victory", he said.

Andy Murray Has Pulled Out Of Wimbledon
Andy Murray on Sunday delivered the message Wimbledon was dreading: he is pulling out of the tournament. It is the first time Murray has missed Wimbledon since 2007 when a wrist injury ruled him out.

"I don't have a shoe deal".

"They have shown interest to have a shoe deal with me, as well". Ties are not broken there. The good thing is it's not theirs forever.

"I am deeply committed to tennis and to winning championships".

When defending champion Roger Federer walked on to Centre Court at the All England Club, everyone watching was in for a shock.

The Swiss, who beat Marin Cilic in last year's final, will play either Lukas Lacko or Benjamin Bonzi in the second round.

"I'm very happy, I felt good from the start too which was nice and that was not the case previous year against him". Federer made his Wimbledon debut in 1999 and is a favourite to win a record-extending ninth title there this year and yet the 36-year-old Swiss said he was not immune to the grandeur of the opening day.
