Tiger Woods concerned by slow greens at Open Championship

Woods will be paired with Hideki Matsuyama and Russell Knox for his first British Open round since 2015. That's been attributed to an atypically dry and warm summer in the region.

Woods has returned to the Tour in 2018 after recovering from his fourth back surgery. "It's one of the reasons why I think I really like the fact that this putter has grooves, so it does roll initially a little bit faster and a little bit more true and it is a little bit hotter".

"Not to be smart, but it is the next major I'm playing", said the 42-year-old, before taking matters more seriously.

The three-time victor of The Open spoke at his press conference on Tuesday, as he makes his return to the championship for the first time in three years. The putting surfaces? They're green as green gets.

"I've put too much pressure on myself, now I just go in there and play golf and keep the mindset of "it's just another day on the golf course".

Intel official: Cyber threat warnings ‘blinking red’
Some of their targets include the federal government, the USA military, state and local governments, and U.S. businesses, he said. China, Iran and North Korea also continue to wage cyber warfare on America, he added.

Already, there are numerous stories about how far the ball is rolling down fairways.

All of which is to say Woods feels pretty good about his game, particularly at a place that will provide the opportunity to use his creative genius, as he tries to add to his major total this week. "I remember my dad on the range with me saying, 'Are you ever going to hit the ball past the 100 yard sign?" The question for so many players is whether that means going down to as little as a 7-iron off the tee (such as the 350-yard third hole) or smashing driver over all the trouble. "(I) just need to lay some cleaner golf, and who knows?"

"It's my favourite type of golf to play", Woods said. "I feel very confident with the way I'm rolling the golf ball, but the greens were a little bit slower yesterday and I'm sure they'll be a little bit slower today with a bit of moisture".

While the U.S. Open was an exceedingly hard course this year, with breakneck-paced greens and narrow fairways forcing some of the coolest heads in golf to go on tilt momentarily, links golf presents a whole new set of challenges to the players this weekend. That's just going to come with a little bit more experience and I think that I've made a few adjustments.
