West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has acknowledged that he must do all that he can to discover his best starting lineup before the start of the new campaign.

West Ham are prepared to cash-in on Obiang as it may allow them to make a late foray into the transfer market to bring in another midfielder before the window closes next month.

"We have seven new players but we have three important players injured, so until the last day to bring in players we will try to build as strong squad as possible", the former Manchester City manager added in a thinly-veiled message to Hammers co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold to keep spending, especially as Manuel Lanzini, Andy Carroll and Winston Reid are all now sidelined. "He wants to give all the responsibility to me".

This time, West Ham were interested and when I spoke with Manuel, it was an easy decision'.

"I know that they need to improve so it's a challenge for me also, and in the first conversation I had with David Sullivan and (vice-chairman) Karren Brady, they convinced me they had a very good project here and they wanted me to be in front".

"We are trying to build a strong squad".

The Hammers have signed seven players - Felipe Anderson (£33.5m), Issa Diop (£22m), Andriy Yarmolenko (£17.5m), Lukasz Fabianski (£7m), Fabian Balbuena (£3.5m), Ryan Fredericks (free), Jack Wilshere (free) - so far this summer.

Officials said 500 firefighters and numerous helicopters were working to suppress the blaze, the Statesman Journal reports. Six firefighters have since been injured as almost 3,000 continue to fight the blaze, which is only six-percent contained.

'Yes, ' said Pellegrini when asked if signing him was a risk.

"Fortunately for me, I have never been afraid of anything in my life. I am sure that the fans will support the club because they are seeing that something is changing inside".

The Mirror report that West Ham now hold an interest in signing Corinthians attacker Angel Romero, which would be their second raid on the Brazilian side.

"For the moment we have seven new players but we have three important players injured", Pellegrini said. 'Undoubtedly he had quite a few injuries in the past.

"We are doing a plan with the doctor, with him, and with the physical manager. And (he will) not try to play every game of the season because he must work in a different way". The 31-year-old was subsequently sent out on loan to Aston Villa at the start of last season in order to gain some first team minutes and he performed admirably, scoring eight goals and notching 13 assists.

'Last season he did not have too many injuries.
