ALEC BALDWIN Bows Out as BATMAN's Dad in JOKER Film

Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin

Baldwin will play the role of Thomas Wayne, who in the Batman comic series is the father of Bruce Wayne, and will base the character after the man who famously chased Stormy Daniels around his hotel room.

Phoenix will star as the titular villain in the Warner Bros. film, which will delve into how he became the Clown Prince of Crime.

"I'm no longer doing that movie", Baldwin told USA Today, saying his departure was due to issues with "scheduling". The same report that claimed Baldwin had boarded the project also came with a brief description of the Thomas Wayne character, describing the father of Batman as a "cheesy" businessman in the vein of "1980s Donald Trump". Ouch. Way to diss whoever takes your place Baldwin.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar fit, to play for Ind A in quadrangular series
India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar will make a comeback to competitive cricket after he was declared fit on Monday. After tests in London, he was sent to the NCA, with the Board's medical team monitoring his rehabilitation.

Just hours earlier Baldwin had posted a tweet hitting back at speculation his Thomas Wayne would be inspired by Donald Trump. Will Baldwin continue his mockery of the President or will we see a more articulate version of the real estate mogul?

With production slated to start in two weeks, director Todd Phillips will need to find a replacement fairly quickly so as not to hold things up. The movie will be directed and co-written by "The Hangover"'s Todd Phillips, while Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz and Marc Maron have all signed on to co-star. Production is scheduled to start in NY in September, and the film is expected to be released in October 2019.
